Keeping Your IPhone Alive When The Battery Is Low

All Apple iPhone owners have had their phone die at one time.  People head out every day with their iPhone in hand.  Halfway through the day it starts to run low on battery.  This can be disastrous for several reasons.  Your iPhone is an emergency line if you are in need.

It is a navigational device if you end up lost.  It is also a communication tool to meet others and keep in touch.   There are strategic steps you can take to keep your iPhone alive.  You will be surprised how long the phone will run on minimal battery.

Shutting off features not needed

Your iPhone is built with a quality battery.  The phone’s features drain the battery faster than you would like.  The iPhone Settings menu gives users a lot of control.  The menu allows you to turn off features you do not need.

Shutting down the Wi-Fi connection is the first step to conserving battery.  When this feature is turned on, your iPhone is constantly seeking out connections and draining battery.

Turn off your Bluetooth and Personal Hotspot as well.  If your device is close to dying, these unnecessary features should only be on when you need them.

The iPhone GPS chip is also a major battery drain.  Anyone who has used Maps can attest to this.  In the General menu you have the ability to also turn off Location Services.  Turning off this feature will disable applications from using GPS.  This will help save a lot of battery life.

Airplane Mode is your friend

The iPhone has a great feature known as Airplane Mode.  This will disable all network related features of the phone.  Turning this feature on will disable your cellular network, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Personal Hotspot.  If you are at a concert and need your phone for pictures, this is your savior.

Airplane Mode will keep you running for hours on 5% battery life.  You will be able to run applications, take pictures, and play music.  You will not be able to send text messages, make phone calls, or go online.  If you need to do any of those things, turn off Airplane Mode for a few minutes.  Toggling Airplane Mode is a great way to keep your iPhone running.

Most of the time you are probably going to be near a USB port, or a wall socket where you can charge your phone up. If you are in the car you also have the cigarrette lighter port, but even with all this, if you are anything like me – you will always run into a sitaution where you have misplaced your cable.

The Apple iPhone has the ability to run much longer than it usually does.  Knowledge of the phone’s options can help increase your battery life.  When you are at a concert, you do not want your phone to die.  The same can be said if you are traveling and need it for navigation.  These options are available in all iPhone and iOS versions.

Following these steps will help save you from a dead iPhone. 🙂
