Adani Group Negotiates with Google and Meta for Data Centre Collaborations

Adani Group is currently in negotiations with major tech companies Google and Meta to form partnerships for its data centre initiatives.

Additionally, Walmart's Flipkart is also engaging with Adani Group for this project, as the conglomerate searches for suitable locations throughout India to establish these centres, according to a report by Bloomberg.

During the recent ‘India AI Impact Summit’, Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani revealed plans for a $100 billion investment in India's AI infrastructure, focusing on renewable energy-powered data centres by 2035.

The specific sites for the new data centres have yet to be determined, and discussions are still in the early stages.

In October of the previous year, Adani Group partnered with Google through its joint venture, AdaniConneX, to develop India's largest AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, with a planned investment of $15 billion. This facility is anticipated to be Google's largest data centre outside the United States.

Tech companies are rapidly establishing data centres in India, spurred by increasing AI adoption and the availability of land. The Economic Survey 2024-25 predicts that India's data centre market will grow to $11.6 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.98% from $4.5 billion in 2023.

Industry forecasts indicate that India's data centre capacity will double to 2 GW by 2026 and is expected to surpass 8 GW by 2030.

Adani Group is among several firms making substantial investments in this sector. In 2025, OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, announced plans for a 1 GW data centre in India and is in discussions with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) to develop AI infrastructure.

Furthermore, Reliance is set to construct a 3 GW facility in Jamnagar and a 1 GW project in Visakhapatnam, investing over $11 billion in AI-ready data centre infrastructure. Amazon also plans to invest $12.7 billion in cloud infrastructure in India by 2030.
