Enhance Compliance Oversight with the New Compliance API on Claude Platform

The Compliance API is now available on the Claude Platform, providing administrators with programmatic access to audit logs throughout their organization.

This tool is essential for security and compliance teams, allowing them to track user activities, monitor changes in configurations, and seamlessly integrate Claude usage data into their existing compliance frameworks.

Organizations operating in regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, and legal require comprehensive records detailing who accessed what, when, and what modifications were made. Traditionally, compliance teams have depended on manual exports and periodic reviews, which are not scalable.

The Compliance API offers an activity feed that logs significant security-related events within your organization. Admins can retrieve activity logs filtered by:

  • Time range
  • Specific users
  • API keys

The API currently tracks two main categories of activity:

  • User login and logout events
  • Account setting updates and workspace changes

However, it does not log inference activities related to user interactions.

To enable the Compliance API for your organization, contact your account team. After activation, create an admin API key to query the activity feed endpoint. Please note that logging starts only after the API is enabled, and historical activities prior to this activation are not accessible.
