Neelam Dhawan is the new Chairperson of the Data Security Council of India. She takes over from Promod Bhasin. Dhawan will work with industry and government to boost India's cybersecurity and data privacy. The goal is to make India a global cyber leader. Cybersecurity is a key business enabler. Innovation and collaboration are vital in the current tech landscape.Dhawan, who joined the DSCI board in December 2025, succeeds Promod Bhasin.
Bhasin, the Genpact founder and Chairman of ICRIER and Clix Capital, served as the DSCI Chairman for a three-year term ending in March 2026.
Dhawan currently serves on the Board of Directors for several major corporations, including Tech Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever Ltd, Fractal Analytics, and Capita PLC.
She also holds the position of Chairperson on the boards of Ather Energy and Capillary Technologies.
In a statement, DSCI said Dhawan and the board will work closely with the Indian industry and government bodies to develop policies and practices aimed at strengthening the country's cybersecurity and data privacy posture, with the goal of positioning India as a global cyber leader.
Commenting on her appointment, Dhawan said, "Today, cybersecurity is not just a strategic priority, but a business enabler and true competitive differentiator.
