Per Dylan Patel, founder of the semiconductors and AI infrastructure intelligence and research firm, the unnamed employee had indulged in repeated workplace disruptions, refusal to collaborate with colleagues, and instances of inappropriate behaviour. Founded in 2020, SemiAnalysis is an intelligence and research firm focussed on semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. The Information reported in February that SemiAnalysis is in early talks to raise hundreds of millions for a venture capital (VC) fund to invest in startups.
The allegations
The allegations include repeated workplace disruptions, refusal to collaborate with colleagues, and instances of inappropriate behaviour. Patel also cited claims that the employee reported to work under the influence of alcohol and made a sexually explicit and demeaning remark toward a coworker, referencing another employee.
On March 27, SemiAnalysis filed a lawsuit in San Francisco alleging breach of contract, trade secret misappropriation, and related claims. Patel stated that the legal action was taken after internal concerns escalated beyond resolution.
Just days later, the former employee filed a separate lawsuit against SemiAnalysis. Patel characterised that suit as “meritless” and said the company intends to contest it fully.
“We unequivocally deny these claims and will defend against them vigorously,” Patel said in his statement.
