The Karnataka government on Thursday launched Bescom’s ‘HT Mitra’, a grievance redressal portal aimed at providing faster resolution to industries, technology firms, and commercial establishments with high tension (HT) connections.

State energy minister KJ George inaugurated the service — developed in-house by Bescom engineers — at the company’s corporate office in Bengaluru.

“The portal will serve as a transparent and effective platform for HT consumers to raise service requests and register complaints. It will benefit over 18,000 customers under Bescom’s jurisdiction,” George said.

Until now, HT consumers had to depend on the 1912 helpline or visit Bescom offices to lodge complaints, with limited visibility on the status of their grievances. The new portal integrates the entire complaint resolution process, enabling users to register complaints, track their status, and receive updates.

George lauded Bescom engineers for developing the platform internally and said the government would continue to support such consumer-friendly initiatives.

Additional chief secretary (energy) Gaurav Gupta said the system would ensure transparency and timely resolution of grievances, while also improving the ease of doing business.

Bescom managing director N Shivashankar said the portal would provide real-time visibility to officials on complaint handling and accountability at every stage.

The platform also provides field officers with relevant complaint information, monitoring tools, and reports. Its centralised dashboard will be overseen by the Bescom MD, among others, and alerts will be triggered in case of delays or deviation from standard operating procedures.
