NEC Corporation is set to leverage Anthropic's Claude as it develops a major AI-native engineering organization in Japan, making the technology available to around 30,000 employees globally.
This collaboration marks NEC as Anthropic's first global partner based in Japan. The two companies will work together to create secure, industry-specific AI solutions tailored for the Japanese market, with initial focus areas including finance, manufacturing, and local government.
Strategic Goals: According to Toshifumi Yoshizaki, Executive Officer and COO of NEC Corporation, this partnership aims to harness AI's potential in Japan, emphasizing the need for safety, reliability, and quality in solutions for businesses and public administration.
NEC and Anthropic will co-develop products specifically designed for sectors such as finance, manufacturing, and cybersecurity. Additionally, NEC is integrating Claude into its Security Operations Center to enhance defenses against advanced cybersecurity threats.
Claude will also feature in NEC's next-generation cybersecurity services. Furthermore, NEC plans to incorporate Claude, including its Opus 4.7 and Claude Code versions, into its BluStellar Scenario program, which provides consulting and digital infrastructure services.
To foster a skilled workforce, NEC will establish a Center of Excellence aimed at building a large AI-enabled engineering team, supported by training from Anthropic. This initiative is part of NEC's Client Zero program, where it utilizes its own technology internally before offering it to clients.
