Anthropic is moving quickly to finalize its latest funding round, requesting investor allocations within the next 48 hours. This round is projected to raise around $50 billion and is expected to close within two weeks.
The company is aiming for a valuation of approximately $900 billion. However, due to significant investor interest, the final valuation could exceed this target.
Despite the high demand, some early investors, particularly those who backed the company in 2024 or earlier, are opting out of this round. Instead, they plan to wait for the anticipated IPO later this year to potentially cash out.
This funding round is likely to be Anthropic's last private round before going public, aimed at supporting its substantial computing requirements.
Recently, Anthropic reported an annual revenue run rate that has surpassed $30 billion, with some sources indicating it is closer to $40 billion.
In its previous funding round in February, the company achieved a valuation of $380 billion. If successful in hitting the $900 billion mark, Anthropic would more than double its valuation and surpass its main competitor, OpenAI, which recently closed a record funding round at an $852 billion post-money valuation.
