Anduril, a defense technology startup, has successfully closed a $5 billion Series H funding round, significantly increasing its valuation to $61 billion. This funding round, led by Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz, marks a substantial leap from the company's previous valuation of $30.5 billion just under a year ago.
The latest influx of capital follows a remarkable year for Anduril, which reported $2.2 billion in revenue for 2025. CEO Brian Schimpf highlighted this growth in a recent blog post announcing the funding.
Competitive Landscape: While Anduril has attracted significant investment, the Department of Defense appears cautious about relying solely on one startup. For example, Shield AI, another drone technology company, was selected by the Air Force to collaborate with Anduril on the “Fury” autonomous fighter jet, rather than awarding a comprehensive contract to a single entity.
Global Expansion: Anduril is not only thriving in the U.S. market but is also expanding internationally. Recent contracts include a partnership to develop a space-based missile defense system for the U.S. and a contract with the Dutch Ministry of Defense for battle management software.
Investment Trends: The defense sector is increasingly attracting venture capital. In recent months, Shield AI raised $1.5 billion, while Hermeus secured $350 million for hypersonic unmanned fighter jets. European defense tech company Helsing is also reportedly nearing a $1.2 billion funding round.
Overall, Anduril has raised over $11 billion from investors since its inception.
