“A brief technical issue caused a delay of around two hours in the CUET-UG examination in the morning shift today. The issue was promptly identified and resolved by our technical teams and the examination has since resumed without any impact to the sanctity of the exam,” K. Krithivasan, chief executive officer and managing director of TCS, said in a statement.
“We regret the inconvenience. Our teams are actively monitoring all systems. We remain committed to working closely with NTA to ensure seamless conduct of the computer-based tests,” he added.
The Common University Entrance Test is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to undergraduate programmes across central and participating universities. The examination is conducted in computer-based mode at centres across India.
Friday’s disruption comes amid continuing scrutiny of the conduct of competitive examinations in India following the concerns around the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) paper leaks earlier in the month.
The NTA on Friday said the morning shift of the CUET-UG was delayed at some centres because of a technical issue, with the disruption affecting the start of the computer-based examination by around two hours. The examination was later resumed after the issue was resolved, allowing full compensatory time and revising the afternoon session timing.
NTA is part of TCS’ customer base in India, where the IT giant works with departments of the Government of India and various State Governments, systemically important entities and the private sector, as per its annual report in 2026.
The company has historically operated large-scale exam delivery systems through TCS iON platform, including entrance examinations, recruitment tests and university assessments.
India accounted for Rs 15,775 crore of TCS’s total revenue of Rs 2,67,021 crore in FY26, or about 5.9% of consolidated revenue.
