Software services vendor Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has signed a multi-year, multi-million euro agreement with Canada Life, one of the world's leading life and pensions insurers, to modernise its IT infrastructure across Europe.

Under the partnership, TCS will use its artificial intelligence and digital capabilities to manage and modernise Canada Life's data centres, core infrastructure, end-user computing systems and software lifecycle management, TCS said in a statement on Monday.

The programme would support Canada Life's long-term technology modernisation strategy.. It is expected to improve the insurer's ability to scale technology services and respond more quickly to changing business requirements.

As part of the agreement, TCS will also invest in talent development across infrastructure services in the UK, Ireland, the Isle of Man and Germany through training, certification and career development programmes, it said.

The deal comes as Indian IT services firms are competing for large contracts in Europe, a market that has emerged as a key growth region amid slower discretionary spending in North America. Companies such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro and HCLTech have been expanding their presence across the UK and continental Europe through local hiring, delivery centres and industry-focussed offerings.

The deal with Canada Life strengthens TCS’ position in the insurance sector and expands its presence in the UK and Ireland market.

Caroline Dibbs, Chief Information and Transformation Officer for Europe at Canada Life, said TCS was selected for its technical expertise, transformation capabilities and collaborative approach. She added that the partnership would help strengthen the technology services and capabilities supporting the business.

Vinay Singhvi, Head of UK and Ireland at TCS, said the engagement reinforces the company's leadership in AI-led transformation and would help Canada Life improve efficiency, resilience and agility across its IT operations.
