Synopsis
Anthropic's Fable 5 AI model showcases advanced agentic coding, capable of autonomous complex task completion and outperforming benchmarks. While its power promises to transform IT operations, high compute costs and token consumption may hinder widespread adoption. Experts note its enterprise-grade nature, comparing it to a powerful but costly tool.Listen to this article in summarized format
“Fable's biggest differentiator is its agentic coding capability, which means it can accomplish complex tasks autonomously and find multiple paths to reach a goal,” said Srikanth Velamakanni, chief executive at AI services firm Fractal Analytics and chairperson of Nasscom. “That makes it one of the most powerful software engineering models we have seen so far, with the potential to significantly transform enterprise IT operations, provided it is used responsibly.”
Still, models like Fable can suffer from “jagged intelligence,” which means they are able to perform advanced tasks such as coding or passing medical exams but struggle with basic logic, spelling or simple counting, he said.
