Launch of Claude Corps: A New Fellowship for AI Enthusiasts

Claude Corps has been introduced as a national fellowship initiative designed for individuals at the start of their careers who are eager to promote the advantages of AI within communities across the United States.

This program aims to train 1,000 fellows in effectively utilizing Claude, pairing them with nonprofits nationwide. The fellows will work full-time for a year, helping these organizations enhance their missions while simultaneously developing valuable AI skills for their future careers.

Recognizing the potential disruptions caused by transformative AI technologies, the program emphasizes the responsibility of tech companies to ensure that these benefits are equitably shared. To support this initiative, an initial investment of $150 million has been committed.

Claude Corps is a collaborative effort involving three key organizations: Anthropic, which will fund and strategize the program; CodePath, responsible for employing the fellows and leading their training; and Social Finance, which will handle evaluation and long-term financial planning for scalability.

The fellowship spans 12 months, beginning with intensive training on utilizing Claude in nonprofit environments. Following placement, fellows will receive ongoing training and mentorship, dedicating their time to support their host organizations.

Compensation for fellows includes a full-time salary of $85,000, benefits, and access to resources for professional development. Over the next year, at least 400 nonprofits are expected to host fellows.

Applications for the fellowship are currently open, with the first cohort set to begin in October 2026. Subsequent cohorts will follow in January and August 2027. Eligibility extends to anyone over 18 with less than two years of full-time work experience, provided they are authorized to work in the U.S. and comfortable with relocating if necessary.

Organizations interested in hosting fellows can also apply now. The program aims to expand significantly beyond the initial 1,000 fellows, with ongoing assessments to measure the impact on both host organizations and fellows' career growth. Plans include open-sourcing technology and infrastructure to inspire similar initiatives globally.
