Claude Code has launched a new feature allowing users to generate live, interactive artifacts from their work sessions. These artifacts serve as shareable web pages that encapsulate the entire session context, making collaboration more efficient.
With this update, users can transform their ongoing projects into visual pages that include elements such as pull request walkthroughs, dashboards, and release checklists. As the session progresses, these pages automatically update, enabling teams to focus on development rather than status reporting.
How Artifacts Work
Artifacts leverage the full context of a Claude Code session, integrating codebases, connectors, and conversations. For example, a single incident page can compile relevant code, monitoring tool data, and root-cause analysis into one accessible format. This eliminates the need for manual data integration, as users simply request a page, and Claude Code generates it based on existing information.
Real-Time Collaboration
When an artifact is updated, the corresponding web page refreshes automatically, allowing teammates to view changes instantly. Each published version retains the same link, complete with version history for easy restoration. A gallery feature helps users manage all their created artifacts efficiently.
Use Cases
Internal testing has highlighted debugging as a primary use case. For instance, an engineer investigating an incident can generate an artifact that includes a timeline, suspect commits, and error-rate charts. This artifact can be shared with the team, ensuring everyone has access to the same information during discussions.
Privacy and Access Control
By default, artifacts are private to their creators. Users can share them with teammates or the organization as needed. Access is restricted to authenticated members, with administrators able to manage permissions and retention policies through an organizational toggle.
Getting Started
Users can initiate the creation of an artifact directly from their session. Claude Code is currently offering this feature in beta for Team and Enterprise organizations, accessible via the Claude Code CLI and desktop app.
