Uber Discontinues Shuttle Service in Delhi NCR, Shifts Focus to Employee Transportation

Uber has officially discontinued its shuttle service in Delhi NCR, a decision influenced by low ridership and high operational costs. This move follows similar shutdowns in Mumbai and Hyderabad last year.

In an email to users, Uber announced, “We wanted to inform you that Uber Shuttle services in your city will be discontinued after 27 March. After this date, Shuttle rides will no longer be available.”

The Uber Shuttle service allowed users to pre-book bus rides on fixed routes, primarily catering to commuters traveling between New Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida.

Interestingly, just last year, Uber had plans to expand its shuttle services in Delhi NCR. However, the company has now decided to focus on Employee Transportation Services (ETS), which it sees as a significant growth opportunity.

According to an Uber spokesperson, “Shuttle helped us serve a strong commuter base and build valuable learnings in high capacity mobility. We are now applying those learnings to a larger opportunity by strategically shifting focus toward Employee Transportation Services (ETS).”

This strategic pivot comes as Uber enters the ETS market, responding to increased demand from corporate employees in global capability centers, banks, and IT companies. The corporate mobility services segment is projected to reach $13 billion by 2030.
