The proposed hub will anchor the company’s global finance and human resources services, Tobias Dratt, president of global business services at BASF, said. “This is not a back-office setup, it will be a strategic hub,” Dratt told ET. “Our finance and HR services will be bundled in the new global hub, and a large part of these tasks will transfer here in Hyderabad and help strengthen complex enterprise operations beyond routine service delivery.”
The company handed over the letter of intent to Telangana IT and industries minister D Sridhar Babu. Dratt said the company has begun the process of identifying land and plans to operationalise the hub by the fourth quarter of 2026.
Hiring will ramp up in phases, with an immediate focus on building teams on the ground. BASF is one of the largest chemical companies in the world, both by revenue and global footprint, with operations across more than 200 countries, revenues of around $60 billion (Rs 5 lakh crore) and a workforce of over 108,000 employees.
Currently, its global business services employ around 2,900 people in finance and 1,500 in HR globally. The Hyderabad facility will be BASF’s fourth global services hub after Berlin, Kuala Lumpur, and Montevideo.
