India's IT industry is poised for significant growth in artificial intelligence job opportunities, with projections indicating an increase of 15-20%. Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted this trend during the CII Annual Business Summit, emphasizing the need for transformation across various sectors within the industry.
Vaishnaw urged collaboration between industry players and the IT industry body Nasscom to equip the workforce with the necessary skills to meet this demand.
Investment Surge in Data Centers
The minister noted that the government's decision to waive taxes on data centers until 2047 has led to a surge in investments, estimating around $200 billion directed towards the data center economy.
Enhancing Digital Connectivity
To further bolster the nation's infrastructure, India is developing three major subsea cable networks:
- From Vizag to Australia and onward to the US.
- Across the southern coast of India, connecting to the Middle East, Europe, and the US east coast.
- From the Cape of Good Hope to the US.
These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance digital connectivity and support future growth.
Local Manufacturing of AI Servers
In a related development, HP has commenced manufacturing AI servers in India. The minister has also encouraged companies like Google to consider local production of servers to further strengthen the domestic tech landscape.
