After the apparent failure of the Galaxy S5 and more recent Galaxy S6, Samsung has gone out of its way to make sure that the company has a good year in 2015 with the launch of its flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 5. Deemed as a suitable successor to the Galaxy Note 4, the Note 5 is rumored to be the complete mobile computing package by featuring cutting edge technology like a retina scanner, wireless charging, and improved scratch and dust resistance. Let’s take a closer look at the phablet’s rumored specifications.
Body & Design
The Galaxy Note 5 is expected to come packaged in an all-metal, aluminum body, replacing the somewhat inferior plastic molded designs of previous Note phablets. Some variants of the Note 5 might even be launched with faux leather. The Note 5’s screen will be layered with a durable Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4.
Display
For the latest iteration of its phablet, the Note 5 will most likely feature a 5.9-inch AMOLED display that will support 4K resolution at above 600 pixels per inch (ppi). The phone’s display will be truly impressive if it features the rumored Quad HD screen that is being used by a variety of other smartphone manufacturers.
Battery
The Note 5 will most likely feature a big and powerful 4,000 mAh battery. And although it’s not yet official, the big battery would certainly go well with the rumored wireless charging capabilities.
Processing, RAM and Memory
The new superphone will most likely receive a powerful Exynos 7420 chipset and will also feature 8 GB of RAM so that it can keep up with all that processing power. The phone might come with 64 GB of native storage, and will obviously feature an external storage slot for micro SD cards up to 128 GB. The phone will also come preloaded with the latest version of the Android OS M, Milkshake.
Camera
The new model will come with a 20 MP camera, a huge improvement over the current Note 4’s camera. This monster camera will hopefully be able to support up to 4k video recordings @ 60/120 fps as well. The Note 5’s front shooter will be a 5 MP wide-angle camera, giving lots of coverage and affording great group selfies.
Security
To make sure that all sensitive and confidential data stays that way, Samsung has attempted to provide all Note 5 users with as secure a user experience as can be provided. Apart from in-built Knox Security mode, encrypted software and password protection, the Galaxy Note 5 might launch into store with high-end security features including an improved fingerprint scanner and even voice recognition. Samsung’s Note 5 will also feature a retina scanner.
